Haven’t been to Six Flags Great Adventure in a long time? Now is a great time to plan a trip, as the New Jersey theme park has a whole bunch of new features for kids and families to enjoy this year.
The park recently announced its largest array of improvements in its nearly 50-year history. This season, there will be new dining options, events, animal encounters, and lots more!
Families will notice lots of cool features throughout the park to make their Six Flags visit more enjoyable. These include increased capacity and streamlined ride operations, aesthetic and comfort enhancements, and more guest amenities.
“Our largest range of enhancements in nearly five decades will focus on improving our guests’ experience through technology, innovation, and renovation,” said Park President John Winkler. “As the Northeast’s premier family entertainment destination, we’re laser-focused on providing incredible guest service in a beautiful, modern, and state-of-the art environment.”
What’s New in 2022
Here are some of the new features families will enjoy at Six Flags Great Adventure this year:
- Jr. Thrillseekers: The park will complete the two-year renovation of this action-packed area. Formerly Safari Kids, the park’s largest family area will offer eight rides, all perfect for parents to enjoy with their little ones!
- The Return of Medusa: Thrill seekers will delight in the return of the snake-haired Gorgon to Frontier Adventures—a seven-looping beast unveiled in 1999 as the world’s first floor-less, top-rail roller coaster, Medusa. The ride was re-branded 10 years later, but will return in its original form with a new color palette, logo, and Gold Rush-era backstory.
- Q SMART Technology: With the convenience of a smartphone, families will wait on line less and enjoy the park more!
- Enhanced Mobile App: Speaking of smartphones, a new app feature allows guests to add their pass to their Google Pay or Apple Wallet to shorten their front gate wait.
- Restaurant Makeovers: Two of the park’s largest indoor restaurants, Yum Yum Café and Granny’s, will reopen with a new interior look.
- More Dining Options: Have a picky eater? You’re sure to find something everyone in your family will enjoy at the park’s expanded dining list.
- New Amenities: There will be added restrooms, new pavilions and electric-car charging stations.
- New Animals!: The park’s Wild Safari has new giraffe calves, a new male rhinoceros and an array of spring babies for families to see!
- New Giraffe Encounter Tour: Hand-feed giraffes and meet small exotic animals up-close during this new adventure at Wild Safari.
- BATMAN The Ride: This fan-favorite returns with a new coat of paint as it approaches its 30th birthday.
Summer Vibes Festival
Celebrate the sun at this colorful event that will run July 16-Aug. 14.
Foodies will love the array of treats and beat-the-heat beverages to choose from. There will also be live entertainment and lots more for kids and families to enjoy.
