Roots Learning Center
Roots is a Private Learning Center for preschool and elementary students needing remediation or enrichment in foundational reading, writing, and math skills. Through differentiated small group and individualized instruction, Roots supports all learners seeking support outside of school. Students with learning differences and students needing specific support can benefit from the services offered at Roots.
The “Rising Roots” small groups are designed for PreK-4 year olds looking to strengthen their foundational reading skills using the Orton-Gillingham approach, and foundational math skills using the Stern Structural Arithmetic approach.
The “Reading Roots” small groups are designed for elementary students seeking differentiated support to close gaps in their foundational reading and spelling skills using the Orton-Gillingham approach.
Individualized one-to-one tutoring sessions are designed personally for the student while focusing on foundational reading, writing, and/or math skills.
Director and Founder, Megan Scanlon, opened Roots to be a helpful service in the community for families to lean on. In her 10+ years of teaching experience within general and special education settings in NYC, Megan learned the impact that can be made when a student is met with a learning environment that understands their needs. Appreciating the roots of a student’s learning profile is essential in helping them grow. This learning center strives to be the authentic environment that supports all learners in solidifying the roots of academic skills, while gaining self-confidence as students.
