The Harlem Globetrotters, the legendary theatrical basketball players, are on a world tour and coming to New York and New Jersey this month. They’re bringing their classic combination of basketball skills and comedy, as well as some cool new moves that families and kids of all ages will enjoy.
The tour is back in full capacity for 2023 after a modified season last year. There’s a roster of new players with fresh moves and comedic and on-trend flair, so fans can expect the usual theatrics and fun with new twists, too.
In the metro area, the team is playing at the UBS Arena, Elmont, Feb. 12, the Prudential Center, Newark, Feb. 16., and the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, Feb. 19. Tickets are on sale now. The tour is one of several new large-scale events in the area for families to enjoy this year, including motorsports events and kid-friendly exhibits.
This year, the Harlem Globetrotters re-introduced Hall of Famer and Globetrotter legend, Lynette Woodard, back to the organization to serve as a special advisor for the team. Woodard’s return also welcomes three new female athletes to the team, making this season’s roster more dynamic than ever before.
Globetrotting legends will take the court, too, including Brawley ‘Cheese’ Chisholm. A Globetrotter since 2010, Cheese has brought his fancy footwork and 4-point shooting accuracy to all 50 states and more than 60 countries.
“Returning to my home state of New York is magical,” Cheese said. “New York always shows so much love to the team, and the fans are one of a kind.”
Other players include X-Over Tompkins, Spider Sharpless, Ice Castaneda, and more. Check out the full roster on the website.
